Body Modification

Body modification is a growing trend amaong the world. From little things like ear piercing, to extremes like subdermal implants.

Some people look at this trend and say that it is disgusting.

"How far are people willing to go?" Deanna Moore says. "I just don't understand the extreme side of it."

"I love my guages. I love the reaction i get from people when they see that my ear is the size of a dime. It always makes me smile." says Caleb Miller, lead singer for local band HomeWrecker.

There are so many different things you can do when it comes to body modification. From Tattoos to in air suspensions from meat hooks. Every thing you so to your body tha changes it from its original form is considered a modification.

But the real question is...Where do we draw the line at modification, and pure mutilation.

Some would say that modification is something that a person wants, and will not look back on and regret, while mutilation would be considered any modifications that are made that are either unwanted or regreted in the future.

So where would you draw the line? Is going to the extent that the man in the picture above did considered mutilation? Or do you see it as an escape from the everyday norm? Does the picture to your right gross you out? Or do you find it as amazing as I do?
Leave your comments, let me know what you think.

  3. The process starts with opening the skin. They then create a subcontanious pocket in the skin by using a dermal punch. From there they place the design in your skin. Most of the time using metal but the new growing trend is the use of a silicon based item that is flexible. They usually don't move, but there are exceptions.
