I chose to research how to grow roses. I chose this because I have a small rose garden, and I am running into problems with pests (Japanese beetles) and also rust. I come from a family of gardeners. My grandmother raised beautiful roses, and she always had the most beautiful vases of cut roses during the summer and fall seasons. I remember as a small child how her house was filled with the smell of roses, and the scent still reminds me of her. I hope to find some solutions to the beetle and rust and other things that destroy my plants. I also hope to find an online community of gardening experts who can answer my questions.
In this paragraph I will share a summary of what I read about roses. And I'll include a quote or passage that I find helpful. Here's some information I found from the Missouri Conservation Department about the necessity of cutting roses.
"Repeated cutting, as discussed above, is effective. For large populations on severely disturbed areas, mowing can be substituted for cutting individual plants. However, mowing multiflora rose can result quickly in flat tires. On mowers, filling tires with foam is recommended."
