Narrative: Where I'm From

I am from Barbies, baby dolls, books, from ivory and wood.

I am from the glorious streets of birds tweeting, trucks honking, and ambulance sirens. *

I am from the daisies, the roses.

I am from the fun Sunday dinners and brown hair and brown eyes, from Dexter II and Clyddie Mae and Margaret and Dexter McCrimmons.

I am from the home that requires success and a home that requires love.

From "Pick up your stuff!" and "I love you!".

I am from a Christian home whose rules come from the Bible.

I'm from Springfield, Mo. and Willie Boyd and Mary Duncan, ribs and soda.

From the thrills and laughs of scaring each other. Walking down the basement steps in the darkness. Suddenly, a figure pops out at you and you scream for 3 minutes straight! The figure is your mother and you are your younger brother. The pain that arguing brings to my family relationships, and the tallness of my brothers.

I am from the endless numbers of photo albums in the basement and valuable home videos in the video drawer.
*I live by a hospital so when an ambulance leaves, I hear the loud sirens.
